Understanding Day Supplies
We are experiencing an increased level of questions surrounding the permissible quantity of medication that may be filled as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
As many patients across Canada have heard, there are concerns surrounding strain on the supply chain due to increased prescription quantities. The situation is very fluid and continuous evaluation and monitoring is being conducted by government and regulatory bodies to ensure all patients have access to supply. As a precautionary approach, many provincial bodies have requested pharmacies limit to 30-day supplies.
Alliance Pharmacy has taken a case-by-case approach that considers:
• Patient’s current health and/or situation (isolation and vulnerability)
• Medication continuity for optimal health
• Imposed insurance or provincial quantity or coverage limitations
• Supply of the required medication
o Considering current on-hands, number of patients also requiring the medication and replenishment options from wholesalers and manufacturers
With a vast formulary of available medications, and our main priority of getting medications in the hands of our patients, we will not be publishing a listing of medications that may or may not be dispensed in limited supplies.
As a proud Canadian business, we ask for all Canadians to understand that Alliance Pharmacy, including all front-line healthcare workers and essential service providers are working hard to clear any backlogs. Your continued patience is appreciated.
Stay safe, and stay home if possible.
The Alliance Pharmacy team.
